1. Whenever any new international students are approved by ICA, the staff from KLC Operations (KLC-Ops) will inform Student Welfare Department (KLC-SWD) of the student’s arrival schedule.
2. KLC-SWD will email Student’s Hostel Reservation Form to these new international students for their hostel accommodation arrangement. When these new students sent back the Student’s Hostel Reservation Form, KLC-SWD will liaise with the person-in-charge of hostel to confirm the booking on behalf of the students.
3. One or 2 days before students’ arrival, KLC-SWD will call the Hostel to ensure that arrangement has been made to pick-up the students at the Airport.
4. KLC-SWD will inform new students on the monthly rent inclusive of the rental package, the deposit, estimate amount of money to bring, what to bring and what are provided, the weather in Singapore, food & transport, pick-up arrangement at Changi Airport and Manager’s contact number in case of emergency.
5. Students will be briefed the procedure of disembarking when landed at the Airport such as how to fill-up the immigration card, to follow the main crowd and look at the signages for instruction to collect baggage from the designated belt number etc. After collecting their luggage, the students will be met by their “pick-up services” and be brought to the hostel.
6. New students will be advised to call home upon arrival at the hostel to inform the parents of their safe arrival. Our Student Welfare Manager provides overseas Calling cards at the hostel to facilitate the students to make such overseas call.
7. Student Welfare Manager will also meet the students at the Hostel on their arrival to introduce them to existing students and form a “buddy system” to show these new students the facilities and amenities around the hostel.
8. Students have the option to take transport provided by the Hostel to bring student to and fro the KLC Yio Chu Kang campus for lessons daily.
9. Student Welfare Manager will accompany the students for the required medical check-up, assist them to fill up the medical check-up form and how to make payment.
10. Student Welfare Manager will collect the students’ medical reports after 1 or 2 days when it’s ready for collection.
11. The school will help make an on-line ICA appointment for the students to process and collect their student pass.
12. KLC-OPS will prepare the ICA online application form for the students, photocopy of the passport, In-principle Approval Letter from ICA and if required supporting documents of the certified certificates if required by ICA. On the day of appointment, KLC-SWD will accompany the students to ICA to collect the student pass.
13. Student Welfare Manager will bring the students to open a bank account or to change money, purchase phone card and MRT card. Students will inform the parents of the bank account number for future remittance of their school fees.
14. On the 1st day of class, students will attend a Course Orientation which they will be briefed on KLC personnel and organisation structure. A comprehensive Student Handbook and Course Handbook will also be given to the students.
15. The students can call upon the Student Welfare Manager anytime for assistance. The Student Welfare Manager will also check on the students’ work and living progress.
16. Students are also introduced to the various recreation activities available at the campus.
17. In the event any of the students fall sick, the Student Welfare Manager will advise the students to go for check-up or accompany the students to see the doctor.
18. The Student Welfare Manager also helps to mediate and counsel students if they faced problems with interacting with fellow roommates or classmates or have problems coping with the course work.
