This course focuses on young children as competent and capable learners and is specially deisgned to provide potential teachers knowledge and skill development in planning and designing a stimulating environment for young children. Trainees will develop a good understanding of children development including creativity, use play as a vechicle for learning, create appropriate plans and experiences, design a stimulating environment, engage in safety and health practices, and develop strategies working with and effective communication skills with children, parents, peers and the community.
Aims and objectives of course: Upon completion of the course, graduates will be able to: - Understand pre-school education and child development in the Singapore context;
- Equip themselves with skills and knowledge to facilitate lesson-planning in the curriculum areas;
- Appreciate the practices in pre-school education, which provide for an interactive and developmentally appropriate learning environment;
- Understand the important aspects and value of their work; and
- Appreciate their role in the field of early childhood care and education.

Minimum 3 GCE ‘O’ level credits (including a credit in English or its equivalent - IELTS 5.5)

Award of Certificate
Upon successful completion of coursework and practicum, and a minimum of 75% attendance, participants will be awarded the Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education by KLC School of Education.
